• Brushes: recommended hogs hair brush or synthetic blend with a mix of filbert and flat sizes 2, 4, 6, 8. Plus a couple small (size 1 or 2) brushes in flat or round. Look for “good for oil painting”  

      I use Silver Brush Grand Prix or Rosemary synthetic. 

• Canvas painting panels:  Size 8x10 to 12x16 canvas panels. Plan on 2-3 per full day.

• Oil paints I typically buy professional-grade Gamblin paints:

  • Cadmium Yellow medium

  • Lemon yellow

  • Cadmium Red medium

  • French Ultramarine Blue

  • Titanium White

  • Indian Yellow

  • Prussian blue

  • Quinacridone Red

  • I may add some other colors occasionally, like Radiant Blue, Yellow Ochre, or Burnt Sienna​

• Odorless mineral spirits in a container with a tight-fitting lid.  I use Gamsol. 

• Grey sliding view finder https://www.jerrysartarama.com/view-catcher. They are carried at local stores and Amazon too.

• Roll of paper towels

• Plastic bags for trash

• Small sketchpad and pencils

• Phone or camera for reference photos

• Sunscreen

• Comfortable shoes/layers

• Sun hat

• Bug spray

• Baby wipes for hands

• Backpack or totes to carry gear

• A wet painting carrier – empty pizza boxes or other flat boxes work too, or if you use a French easel, you can fasten it in that as well.

• Any other creature comforts that help with painting outdoors (like music!).
